Bifocal
Contact Lenses
Not very long ago when bifocal eyeglasses used
to dominate the optical shops all over the cities and towns. They
are presbyopics’ bestfriends. They come in all shapes and color.
Some have tinted glasses or deep brown color while others have big
rim that circle the eyes.
With the introduction of contact lenses into the
market, everything has changed. People have switched to using
bifocal contact lenses because of the general
convenience it has afforded to the wearer. However first-time users
have to go through the getting-used-to process, as many were
sensitive to using contact lenses. After how many days of wearing
contact lenses everything will be alright.
Presbyopia is the condition that can be
alleviated by using bifocal contact lenses. This
condition usually occurs to the aging population that generally
starts when one reaches forty years old. The condition hampers the
ability to see clearly even within close range say like at an arm’s
length. Doing hobbies like reading, gardening, crossword puzzles
seemed difficult to accomplish because of a blurred vision.
Presbyopia comes with age so there is no way one can fool around
with it.
Bifocal contact lenses were made as better
alternative to the bifocal eyeglasses in mitigating presbyopia.
Though the two works similarly but the former is relatively
convenient to use than the latter. Hazy and unclear vision problem
among presbyopic have become a thing in the past since the
invention of bifocal contact lenses.
From the word “bi” which means two, the way
bifocal contact lenses work is much like the bifocal eyeglasses,
giving the wearer two foci. It enables the wearer the ability to
see clearly from far distance and in close range as well. The
wearer especially the first timers will have difficulty adjusting
the eyes to the two focal which usually takes place in the few
weeks of wearing the contact lenses.
Wearing bifocal contact lenses should go with it
the prescription of the eye doctor. Your prescribed contact lenses
can be purchased from directly from your doctor or they can be
bought from optical shops. There are many brands of bifocal contact
lenses. There are the signature labels and the private labels. The
signature ones are expectedly priced high compared with the private
labels. However the expensive ones are sure to give better
performance while the cheaper ones are yet to prove their worth.
Private labels, nevertheless has gained mass appeal from certain
market segments.
Bifocal contact lenses like any
other contact lenses now have come in different styles and colors.
They do not give functional value they also provide aesthetic
appeal.
